Solutions to the problem:
1st solution:
A complete ban on climbing Uluru
1st solution:
A complete ban on climbing Uluru
Strengths:
Weaknesses:
2nd Solution:
Establish certain routes
- Aboriginals will be happy because their sacred landmark will be protected.
- Environmentalists will also be happy because it will not erode.
- Both the aboriginals and environmentalists will be happy that no one can go toilet on the rock and that there will be no rubbish on the top of it.
- Both will also be happy that there will be no more deaths and injuries because no one will be climbing the rock.
Weaknesses:
- Business would suffer
- There would be a loss of jobs
- There would be a loss of money
- There would be a lot of disagreements and the government would be very mad at the aboriginals
2nd Solution:
Establish certain routes
Strengths:
Weaknesses:
3rd Solution:
Limit the number of people who can climb it
- Workers will still get money
- Aboriginal people can chose the routes that will not disturb their ancestors and that are not so sacred so they will be happy
- More safe because tourists wont be able to climb dangerous parts
- Not all of the rock will erode
Weaknesses:
- Tourists might be mad that they can't climb all of Uluru
- Because tourists can not go all around the rock it will make them more likely to break the rules and go into the 'out of bounds' areas
3rd Solution:
Limit the number of people who can climb it
Strengths:
- The rock will not erode as fast
- Some tourists can still climb it so they will be happy
- Less money
- Less jobs will be available
